Houses, electricity supply equipment and other structures were destroyed by heavy rainfall with a strong wind in Bauchi Monday night.
The rain which started with a strong wind at about 10 pm blew off roofs of many houses and pulled down others within Bauchi metropolis, the worst-hit areas include behind Emir’s Palace, Doya, Karofi, Kofar Dumi, Rafin Makaranta, Yelwa, Sabon Kaura and other areas.
Some of the victims who spoke with our Correspondent lamented that they lost their life savings in the disaster which has now rendered them homeless with nowhere to turn to for help calling on the state government, local government and other individuals to come to their aid.

Musa Bello is a resident of Yelwa whose building was pulled down said that the disaster has now exposed his entire family to danger particularly at this period of COVID-19 pandemic, calling for an immediate response from the government.
Another victim of the disaster, Mrs Comfort Femi of Sabon Kaura said that the rain which came with a strong wind destroyed the entire building saying that they could not sleep throughout the night, she, therefore, appealed for immediate intervention by the government.
At the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), an official of the Agency said that they were yet to receive an official report of the disaster from anyone but assured that as soon as they got a report they will swing into action because that is the main function of the Agency.
