Gunmen kidnap Kogi CJ’s niece, demand N50m ransom

 

UNKNOWN gunmen have abducted a legal practitioner in Kogi State, Rabi Ovosi, who is also a niece of the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasiru Ajanah.

Apart from Ovosi, the hoodlums also kidnapped the driver of the Chief Judge, Mallam Hassan, who drove the vehicle in which the two were abducted.

Already, the kidnappers have established communication with the relatives of their victims and they have demanded for N50 Million naira as ransom.

Ovosi was said to have been kidnapped on Friday evening at Itakpe junction in Okehi local government area of the state on her way to Okene from Lokoja.

It was gathered that the heavily armed gunmen with forced the vehicle in which the duo was traveling to stop and ordered them to alert from the car and whisked them into the mountain.

One of the relatives of the victim, Abdullateef Ovosi, told newsmen on Sunday that the kidnappers called the family at the early hours of Sunday demanding for a ransom of N50 million.

He said, “As at this morning, I heard a ransom has been demanded, and the family members were holding a meeting when the kidnapers called.

“As we speak, their lines are no more reachable for us to know what amount they are demanding, whether they will bring it down or not”.

He said the development had been reported to the Kogi State Police Command, with the command assuring to be on top of the situation.

Ovosi said, “as usual, the police said they are on top of the situations. So, we are still waiting for a quick release of our sister. We are all worried and we are praying asking everybody to join us in praying for her safe return.”

The kidnapped of the mother of two and the driver is coming few days after some unknown gunmen kidnapped and murdered the Osun State Permanent Secretary Bureau of General services, Mrs Olufunke Oluwakemi Kolawole along Okene-Lokoja-Abuja road in Kogi State, on her way to Abuja.
