Gunmen attack: Police confirm death, abduction of two other persons in Bauchi

Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of another victim of the gunmen who attacked Birshin Fulani, a suburbs of Bauchi metropolis in the early hours of Saturday. 

While speaking to our correspondent on Saturday afternoon, the PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili said that, “I want to confirm to you that, one Adamu Umar, 56 years old man who was shot by gunmen earlier this morning and rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi has died.”

The PPRO further said that, “he was rushed to the hospital by our patrol team that responded to the distress call following the gunshots from the area. He was admitted for treatment from the gunshots in his buttocks but he was later confirmed dead.”

He also confirmed that the gunmen abducted another person as they escaped through Bayara along Dass road assuring however that Police personnel are on their trail as ordered  by the Commissioner of Police, Sylvester Abiodun Alabi. 

A source told our correspondent that the gunmen whose number cannot be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, had attacked a resident of Katsinawa village and stole two motorcycles which they used in the operation. 

The source further disclosed that the gunmen were heard shouting and shooting sporadically as they stormed the Burshin Fulani village where the late Chief Engineer was shot directly in the neck leading to his death. 

He added that while trying to escape, the gunmen shot another person identified as an Engineer working with a Bauchi based indegeneous construction company, Damasal Engineering.
