A member of vigilante group at Agber area of Makurdi, capital city of Benue state was last Saturday shot dead by a gunman who invaded the community.
According to eyewitness account, the gunman identified as Solomon had stormed the community early hour of Saturday shooting sporadically.
It was gathered that a member of vigilante group in the community died and two others injured.
It was learnt that the gunman is a notorious criminal who had lived in the environment but was ejected about a year ago.
The source added, “the young man is known for his notorious activities within this area and was forcefully ejected by his landlord about a year ago, only for him to have come to this place that fateful Saturday shooting sporadically.”
“Unfortunately, a member of vigilante group was shot dead and two others injured, the injured ones were rushed to the hospital.”
The dead vigilante member was said to be a commercial motorcyclist and married with children.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Moses Yamu confirmed the report and said that the attacker is an ex-convict is now at large but that the police was already on his trail.
