As part of the activities marking the second year of the Governor Makinde-led government, Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID), has concluded plans to reward winners of the Seyi Makinde Essay Competition aimed at empowering youths in the state.
The presentation of the awards to winners according to the organisers would be held in Ibadan on May 24.
In a release made available to newsmen, the first 20 winners of the just concluded competition are already undergoing an ICT Competency Development Training and will be presented their certificates of participation on Friday, while the top three will be presented cash prizes.

The spokesperson of the group, Mr Ayotomiwa Adebayo, noted that the Seyi Makinde Annual Essay Competition sponsored by OID is a competition that creates a platform for public policy discourse on Oyo State socio-economic concerns among the youths that consist over 70 percent of the Oyo State population (NBS, 2016).
“The Omituntun Initiative in Diaspora (OID) in line with the vision of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde strive for effective and qualitative education to make Oyo State a knowledge-based economy in Africa, sets to build an enlightened community of citizens, committed to raising of youths with vibrant, resourceful and focused future leaders that will take the mantle of leadership in any human endeavour and propel Oyo State to the next phase of the developmental revolution,” he added.
