The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has appealed to the management of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to provide special high-impact intervention for the development of the new Kogi State University, Kabba.
Ododo made the call during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, at the Fund’s headquarters in Abuja. He emphasized the necessity of high-impact intervention to boost infrastructural development at the new university.
The governor stressed the importance of increased funding for the educational sector to enhance human capital development in Nigeria.
Governor Ododo expressed gratitude to TETFund for its significant intervention in tertiary institutions in Kogi State. He commended TETFund for its impact on the development of tertiary education in the state, particularly the speedy development of Kogi State University, Kabba, which recently held its maiden matriculation for its first set of over 1000 students.

While acknowledging TETFund’s support for higher educational institutions in Kogi State, including Prince Abubakar Audu University Ayingba, Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, College of Education Ankpa, and College of Education (Technical) Kabba, Governor Ododo reiterated the need for additional interventions, especially under the Special High Impact Intervention Fund.
Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to human capital development in the state, emphasizing education as the most crucial catalyst for societal development. He assured that his administration would prioritize key areas such as science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) in all higher institutions to ensure comprehensive education coverage for all school-age children in the state.
In his response, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Architect Sonny Echono, commended Governor Ododo for his servant leadership approach and described him as a hands-on leader dedicated to serving the people of the state. He assured that TETFund would continue to support Kogi State through interventions in tertiary education to advance the Governor’s vision of accelerated human capital development.
Governor Ododo was accompanied on the visit to TETFund by the state commissioner for education, Honorable Wemi Jones, and the Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, Professor KIT Eniola.
