Gov Inuwa swears in one commissioner, 22 special advisers

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Thursday, swore in a new commissioner and 22 special advisers in his drive towards transforming Gombe into an enviable one.

Shortly after performing the swearing-in ceremony, Inuwa Yahaya charged the new appointees to work harmoniously and assiduously towards achieving the goals of his administration.

He said that good governance must be provided for the development of Gombe state and the well-being of its citizens.

According to him, “Your appointment is a call to service, in order to help navigate the affairs of our state through turbulent waters, and not an invitation to political luxury and profligacy.

“I charge you to work assiduously and as a team towards achieving the goals of our administration. We must work together to provide good governance for the development of Gombe State and our people.”

The Governor stated that since 2019, his administration has been built on a strong foundation of hard work, resilience and unflinching commitment to the well-being of the people of Gombe state.

He also stated that it put in place, various people-oriented policies and programmes in order to address the needs of the people and propel the state towards greater heights.

He added that in the five years of his stewardship, the achievements made so far in critical sectors of growth and development such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, rural development, and others, along with the reforms being implemented in the civil service, have made Gombe a model for other states to emulate, giving credit of these successes to the hard work of his team members.

“Our achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and rural development, among many others have attracted domestic and international commendation, turning Gombe into a model worthy of emulation by other states.

“We also implemented public service reforms in order to enhance efficiency, transparency, and service delivery. As a senior public official, I trust that you will lead by example, fostering a culture of integrity and excellence in all your endeavours.

“As you step into your new roles, I urge you to key into these reforms and embrace these policies wholeheartedly so as to ensure their successful implementation.

“I urge you to strive to live above board, and be just and fair to all our people irrespective of religious, ethnic or political differences,” the Governor added.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, explained that the selection of the new appointees was made to support Governor Inuwa Yahaya in transforming Gombe State to new heights through the execution of meaningful developmental projects throughout the entire state.

Those sworn in are Alh. Shehu Umar Yerima Abdullahi as Commissioner and posted to the Ministry for Special Duties and Regional Integration.

Special Advisers are Abubakar Usman Barambu – Akko (Political Coordination – Gombe Central); Shuaibu Iliya Kashere – Akko (Civic Engagement); Habu Ali Kalshingi – Akko (Community Relations – Gombe Central); Audu Dan Reme – Balanga (Special Duties); Muazu Garba -Balanga (Ecology and Environment); Joseph Bugu Kwallams -Billiri (Political Coordination, Gombe South); and Jamilu Ahmed Shabewa – Dukku (Local Government Affairs).

Others are Alh. Damina Sardauna – Dukku (Chieftaincy Affairs); Ibrahim Cheldu – Funakaye (Community Relations, Gombe North); Mohammed T. Chiroma– Funakaye (Inter-Governmental Relations); Chidebelu Cornelius Ewezie – Gombe (Inter-Community Relations); Faruk Aliyu – Kaltungo (Community Relations, Gombe South); Ibrahim Buba – Kwami (Political Coordination, Gombe North); Usman Jahun – Nafada (Rural Development); Hon. Mamman Alkali- Shongom (Legislative Matters); Shuaibu Umar Galadima- Yamaltu/Deba (Ethical Orientation); Garba Usman Dankafanchan- Yamaltu Deba (Inter-Party Relations); Haruna Mohd Samanja- Yamaltu/Deba (Youth Engagement); AIG (Rtd) Zubairu Muazu – Gombe (Security Matters); Finney David- Balanga (Women Affairs/Nigeria for Women Project); Dr. Ishiyaku Babayo – Gombe (Donor and Development Partners Coordination) and; Sayyada Amina Dahiru Bauchi (Almajiri & Tsangaya Education).

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, Speaker, Hon. Abubakar Luggerewo, APC Chairman, Nitte Amangal, Chief Judge, Justice Halima Mohammed, Grand Khadi, Abdullahi Maikano Usman, former Deputy Governor, Charles Iliya, elder statesman, Ambassador Yarima Abdullahi, Government functionaries, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers among others.
