Gombe State, in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), on Monday launched an intensive training programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics for 100 carefully selected youths, as part of efforts to strengthen skills development, drive innovation and position the state within Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

The programme, organised by the Gombe State Information Technology and Digital Economy Commission (GOSIDEC), began today and reflects the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s push to diversify the economy through human capital development and technology.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Director General of GOSIDEC, Dr. Al-Amin Barambu, described the initiative as a key step toward preparing young people for the demands of the modern workforce.

“Through the support of His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, we are moving beyond the consumption of technology to the actual creation and analysis of data-driven solutions,” Dr. Barambu said.

He urged participants to take the training seriously and focus on long-term impact.

“The laptops provided are not just gifts; they are workstations. We expect you to leverage these tools to build startups, solve local problems, and sustain yourselves through digital entrepreneurship long after this programme concludes,” he added.

At the start of the programme, NCDMB provided participants with high-performance laptops, training materials and stipends to support their learning and help them prepare for opportunities in the global digital space.

The partnership between GOSIDEC and NCDMB underscores Gombe State’s plan to build a pipeline of skilled professionals, including data scientists and technology entrepreneurs, in line with the state’s broader development agenda.
