Determined to ensure the completion and operation of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, Gombe State Executive Council (SEC) on Thursday approved the sum of N16, 445, 029, 657. 45 for the construction of phase one of the Park.
The disclosure was made by the State Commissioner for information and Culture, Mr Julius Ishaya Lepes while speaking to Journalists after the meeting held at the Government House.
While Giving details of the project, the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Tourism, Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu explained that the first phase of the project will consist of construction of administrative blocks, gatehouse, fence, road infrastructure, drainages, water supply storage and distribution as well as electricity supply.
He further said that the first phase is also expected to be completed within 32 weeks from the day the foundation stone was laid saying that the park would attract high profile companies to the state and also provide over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The State Executive council also approved the sum of N1, 979, 13, 640 for the implementation of the second phase of the Gombe Geological Information System.
The Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Jafun Biri, said that the implementation of GOGIS phase two project would take the form of a geospatial mapping and data collection that can be used for planning, real time crime tracing and tracking as well as minerals resources detection and possible exploration.
The sum of N591,550,000 was also approved by the council for the compensation of victims of the Billiri crisis as explained by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo.
The State Executive Council also approved the submission to the State House of Assembly for legislative action, the State’s Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF.
The Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Muhammad Gambo Magaji, said the framework covers 2022‐2024.
He added that the Gombe State Revenue Optimisation Company would provide the funds for the construction of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park Phase one and the implementation of the Gombe Geological Information System phase two.
The council meeting equally approved N950, 647, 980 for maintenance of the Gombe Regional Water Scheme for the year 2020.
