•MICE Market set to hit over $1.5 trn by 2030
The global Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry is undergoing a profound transformation as it moves beyond pandemic recovery into a new phase of growth, sustainability, and work travel integration. Analysts project the market will be valued between $907 billion and $1.12 trillion by 2025, rising to $1.5 trillion–$2.4 trillion by 2030.
While North America and Europe continue to dominate revenue, Asia‑Pacific is expected to record the fastest expansion, with annual growth of 10–13 percent through 2030.
Business travel spending is forecast to reach $1.57 trillion by 2025, driven by digital technology, infrastructure upgrades in emerging economies, and a renewed desire for face‑to‑face connection after COVID‑19.
A major trend reshaping the sector is “bleisure” travel—combining business trips with leisure. By 2025, 42 percent of travellers plan to add leisure to work trips, and 45 percent are exploring “flexcations”, working remotely from vacation spots. The global bleisure market could be worth $816 billion in 2025, growing at 17.8 percent annually until 2034.
Geopolitical challenges, especially visa delays in key countries, are prompting organisers to relocate events to destinations with easier entry, such as Singapore, Dubai, and parts of Western Europe. Sustainability has also moved from optional to mandatory, with new regulations requiring firms to report travel-related emissions.
Event planners now balance budgets with carbon footprints, and some companies have achieved carbon-neutral events, offsetting over 545,000 kg of CO₂ for single gatherings.
Emerging markets in the “Global South” are becoming new MICE powerhouses. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 targets a sector worth over $5 billion by 2030, while India’s convention infrastructure is expanding at 13.2 percent annually, supported by a booming domestic incentive travel market.
To thrive from 2025 to 2030, stakeholders must enhance attendee value, diversify risks by choosing politically stable locations, and leverage AI for personalised experiences. “The future belongs to destinations that blend sustainability, experience, and accessibility,” one industry expert noted.
