Former Dream Team coach, Samson Siasia
NIGERIA’S Dream Team will today face the U-23 team of Mexico in a friendly at the Aguascalientes Stadium, the home ground of newly-promoted top tier club, Necaxa FC.
The match serves as a build up game for the Samson Siasia men ahead of the Rio Olympics which holds next month in Brazil.
Siasia had during the week arrived in the United States for a training tour with 14 players, while the rest invited players from foreign-based side were expected to join the team in its preparation for Rio 2016.
Siasia has listed 35 players on his provisional list for the quadrennial Games where 23 players will make the final cut including three overage players.
Nigeria will begin its campaign at Rio 2016 against Japan on August 4, Sweden on August 7 and Colombia on August 10 in Sao Paulo to seek passage to the knockout stage.
The Dream Team’s second friendly will hold on Saturday, July 16 against Charleston Battery FC in Atlanta, while another tie is scheduled against the Honduras U-23 team on July 27, where the final list will be announced.
