An accident involving a Sino truck carrying a container and an Urvan commercial bus on the Kara bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Friday, claimed four lives.
Saturday Tribune learnt that the truck with registration number KMC 47 ZB, travelling to Lagos hit the commercial bus from behind and forced it off the road thus landing on a spot close to the Kara river.
Two other passengers in the bus sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital for medical attention.
The deceased was said to have died as a result of the impact of the accident.
According to the Public Relations Officer, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the driver of the truck lost control because he was on top speed.
He said, “The accident occurred around 10.50am on Kara bridge. A Sino truck hit an Urvan commercial bus from behind and it fell off the bridge, landing at a point close to the river under the bridge.
“Six passengers were inside the bus, two females and four males. Two females and two males died on the spot while the remaining two were injured.”
Akinbiyi said the corpses of the victims had been deposited at the mortuary in Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, while the injured were rushed to the Lagos State Emergency Hospital.
