Former Oyo PDP chieftain, Olopoeyan, dumps NNPP

South-West leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, has announced his resignation from the party.

Olopoeyan, who has been the leader and the face of NNPP in the South-West zone, is said to be the major financier of the party in Oyo.

The former Oyo PDP Chieftain, who joined NNPP over two years ago, ascribed to himself the one who made NNPP one of the major opposition parties in Oyo state cited personal reasons for his resignation.

In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday, Olopoeyan, reflected on his long-standing commitment to the party’s development in Oyo state, saying he found it worthy to leave NNPP even though, with his commitment and unquestionable support for the party since he joined in 2022.

However, Olopoeyan, expressed appreciation to the foundation and Chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT), Boniface Aniebonam, as well as other party leaders for their show of love throughout the time he spent in NNPP.

Despite his resignation from NNPP, Olopoeyan, assured that he will always be available and continue his personal relationship with Chief Boniface Aniebonam.

Acknowledging the difficulty of his decision, Olopoeyan, emphasised the necessity of taking this step.

“It is in the light of this that I am compelled to offer my resignation from the NNPP with immediate effect.While this decision was difficult to take, I, however, believe that it is the right one,” he stated.

Olopoeyan, did not make known the political party he will be joining, he stated that, he will make the announcement when the time is due.
