The Former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar has condemned the ongoing security challenges bedevilling the country and called for restraints on the parts of the criminal elements bent on bringing the country down on their heads.
He stated this when the Director of Federal Information Centre Minna, Alhaji Bawa Mokwa paid him a courtesy call in his Uphill residence in Minna, Niger State capital at the weekend, urging perpetrators of the criminal activities to embrace peace as the only alternative option.
General Abubakar said, “no nation can develop in an atmosphere of rancour, crisis and bitterness; it can only develop when unity and dialogue are employed.”
He however expressed dismay over fake news perpetuated in social media causing disaffection amongst the citizenry.
In his remarks, the Director of Federal Information Centre Minna, Alhaji Bawa Mokwa expressed appreciation to the former Nigerian Leader and Elder Statesman for his warm reception.
