THE Federal Government has called on state governments to consider the provision of more skills acquisition programmes for women, especially those in rural areas so as to make them self-reliant while contributing to the overall development of the country.
Acting Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, made the call in Abuja when she received the wife of the Kogi State governor, Mrs. Rashida Bello, who paid her a congratulatory visit.

According to her, the initiative of Mrs Bello in training women to be self-employed is very impressive, as it would help to improve the economic well-being of the state.
While disclosing that Kogi State is blessed with civil and public servants, who are contributing immensely to nation building thereby making the “Confluence State” proud, she added that “if you train a woman, you train all Nigerians.”
She pledged to live up to expectation and not to disappoint the trust reposed in her by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Earlier in her remarks, Mrs Bello had stated that her visit was to felicitate the Acting Head of Civil Service of the Federation on her new appointment, as well as wish her success.
She expressed delight that Kogi State was able to produce a Head of Service of the Federation and prayed that she would be a good ambassador of the state, in particular and the nation, at large, while leaving a legacy worthy of emulation.
Mrs Bello was accompanied on the visit by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Bolanle Amupitan and wife of the senator representing Kogi Central, Mrs. Abdulrasaq.
