A cross-section of Nigerians has flayed President Muhammadu Buhari over the N37 billion slated for the renovation of National Assembly Complex in the 2020 budget.
The aggrieved Nigerians, who could not hold their grievances have taken to the social media, especially on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, to slam the Federal Government on what they described as ‘Budget of Corruption.’
President Muhammadu Buhari had, on Tuesday, signed the 2020 appropriation bill of N10.594trn into law in which N37 billion was budgeted for the renovation of the National Assembly Complex, a move which has infuriated many Nigerians.
Below are the reactions of some Nigerians on Twitter:
#37billion approved to renovate a house where 109 people sit down and do absolutely nothing to improve this country while many our roads, Schools, health care system etc are in bad conditions🙄.
Nigeria is a joke, the kind of joke that makes you weep not laugh !!!— Mafeng Samuels (@JorgeMafeng) December 18, 2019
"Buhari approves #37billion for National Assembly renovation", he did that for NASS for them to approve his $29.6bn loan request.
Bribery and corruption?, Or use what you have to get what you need?

Buhari and his #37billion gang NASS are not thinking of renovating our roads, our hospitals, our schools, but more concerned renovating a meeting room at such insane amount.
All from our 7.5% taxes, our loans, our stolen Abacha's loots. You also will come to pass. #Nigeria pic.twitter.com/YvnzuMqdMj

I need an explanation on why NASS need #37billion for renovation. I also need to know why Buhari approve such. I don't think it makes any economic sense to spend such on an institution that's already synonymous with waste. The expenses of those 469 adults alone is a burden itself

"Buhari approves #37billion for NASS renovation".
In a country with very poor health care, many hospitals with no modern equipment to save lives, in a country where pupils are getting education on while sitting on the floor, same country can afford N37B to renovate NASS. Mo fo o— Uncle AJ (@UNCLE_AJALA) December 18, 2019
Nigeria at 60

#37billion to fix a building nothing is wrong with, when it will only cost so much lesser than that to fix all these.

Where did Nigerians offend the 9th Assembly?
How did they approve such idiocy: #37Billion Naira for renovation of the National Assembly & paltry #48 billion for capital expenditure in Education..No roads ..no good health facilities
What kind of Leadership is this? pic.twitter.com/DmMzFxpxIs

Approving #37billion for renovation of National Assembly that was built with 7billion is pure corruption. This madness must stop. @MBuhari is openly giving kick backs to the Senate for Approving his ridiculous loans. pic.twitter.com/YsXQaGpdPd

#37billion
2020 Budget:Health – 46b naira.
Education – 48b naira.
Renovation NASS – 37b naira.
They only care about themselves. They are not concerned about the wellbeing of this country. This regime and misplacement of priorities are siamese twins; inseparable.
