Fasting and kidney stones

I fast regularly for religious reasons.  However, I recently learnt that the incidence of Kidney Stones has been found to be very high among people who fast a lot. I will appreciate your kind explanation on this.

Dehydration as a result of prolonged fasting from water has been confirmed to be dangerous to one’s health. This is because dehydration can lead to increased incidence of Kidney Stones and in some cases, Kidney Failure. This is why ‘dry fasts’ as against fasting with intermittent consumption of water is being discouraged. Besides fasting, poor diet (containing high levels of salt and calcium) heredity, obesity, certain medications and certain diseases can affect whether someone will develop kidney stones. Taking diet pills to lose weight also increases the risk of developing kidney stones because such pills usually contain caffeine.
