Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (EKEDP) said it has grown its average monthly revenue bill to N39.5 billion from under N2 billion in 2013.

Besides, the DisCo added that the number of metered customers has risen from 183,808 to 584,193 over the same period.

The company disclosed this when Senate Committee on Privatisation paid an oversight visit to its headquarters in Marina, Lagos.

The EKEDP management team also highlighted the company’s turnaround journey since privatisation in 2013, noting that Aggregate Technical, Commercial and Collection (ATC&C) losses have declined from 35.37 percent to 19.71 percent as at 2026 year to date.

The EKEDP management team was led by Wola Joseph Condotti, Managing Director, Distribution, Transgrid Enerco Limited alongside Bolaji Simon, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Financial Strategy and Corporate Development and others Anthony Olumide Jerome, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Operations Strategy and Corporate Development.

The nine-member Senate delegation was led by Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatisation.

The committee was also briefed on key milestones achieved between 2024 and 2026, including full settlement of market obligations to NISO, Waterfall, NBET and bilateral power purchase agreement, the construction of three new 33/11kV injection substations, the addition of 12 new 11kV and 13 new 33kV feeders, and the replacement of obsolete 11kV panels across 12 injection substations, contributing a combined impact of 178.25MW.

Other milestones presented included the integration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for real time customer verification, a partnership with the First Central Credit Bureau, the deployment of a paperless digital workflow platform, and the launch of the Eko Power App in May 2026 as a self-service payment platform for customers.

The management used the visit to draw the committee’s attention to transmission infrastructure constraints outside the company’s direct control, particularly around the Ajah, Eleko, Akangba, Agbara, Alagbon, Lekki and Ojo transmission stations, which continue to limit power evacuation and supply reliability within the EKEDP network area.

The team also presented sector wide constraints including inadequate generation capacity, gas supply disruptions to generation companies, and outstanding debts owed by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and the armed forces, which continue to affect collection efficiency and liquidity across the distribution value chain.

Responding to the presentation, Senator Lau commended EKEDP’s performance improvements since the last committee visit in 2024 and gave assurances that the concerns raised, particularly the lingering debts owed by MDAs and the armed forces, as well as ongoing metering challenges, would be escalated directly to the Minister of Power for intervention.

The committee reviewed the company’s operational performance, achievements and the sector wide challenges affecting electricity distribution in its network area.

EKEDP management reiterated its commitment to working with the National Assembly, the Ministry of Power, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and other sector stakeholders to sustain improvements in service delivery and to unlock the infrastructure investments needed to meet suppressed demand across its network area.
