Ekiti State contingent at the just concluded 32nd editon of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) in Benin City, Edo State was honoured with the Most Creative and Innovative State for their outstanding feat at the event.
The state contingent, led by the Director-General, Ekiti State Council of Arts and Culture, Mr Wale Ojo-Lanre, in company of the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Arts and Culture, were at their best at the event.
Ekiti State outperformed over 28 states that attended the 32nd edition of NAFEST to emerge as the Most Creative and Innovative State.
Speaking on the performance of the state’s contingent, Mr Ojo-Lanre said: “We are happy to have been announced the Most Creative and Innovative State at NAFEST 2019 and that is to show you that Ekiti State is not only the Fountain of Knowledge, but also one of the creative and innovative cultural states in Nigeria.

“We came to Edo with a mindset to interpret the theme of the festival, Our Royalty, Our Pride, by using creativity and innovation, which was evident in our attire, dance, cuisine, folk songs and royal presentation at the event. That, without mincing words, is a tip of the iceberg of what we are bringing forth to entertain Nigeria before the end of this year.
“We are going to use our tourism, artistic and cultural strength to not only attract more domestic and foreign tourists, visitors and investment to Ekiti State and Nigeria, but also to create jobs and revenue to empower the people of Ekiti.
“We also want to thank our action governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, for remaining focused and supportive to us in driving the vision and mission of the council to a very enviable height,” Ojo-Lanre said.
