Bauchi State Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), has deployed a total of 533 personnel to ensure free flow of traffic during the Eid-El Kabir Sallah celebration.
Sector Commander, Corps Commander YUSUF Abdullahi made the disclosure while briefing Journalists on the preparations of the Corps toward ensuring an accident-free celebration.
He explained that for the special operations during the festivities period, the Command will deploy 20 operations vans,10 Ambulances, 10 Recovery/ Tow vans and 1 Help area/ Roadside clinic along Bauchi.- Alkaleri to take care of the ever-busy Bauchi to Gombe Road.
According to the Sector Commander, the Programs to be undertaken during the period include Traffic control, Aggressive public enlightenment, Radio and TV talk shows and Subtle enforcement.
Other activities according to him are the Breathalyzer / Alcohol test, the Installation of Red flags along the highway at some identified RTC prone locations as well as other programs that will ensure that accidents were minimized during the programs that will ensure a safe celebration.
He then gave The free toll Nos to call in the case of emergency as FRSC: 122 & NATIONAL EMERGENCY: 112 which he said remain active and request road users to call in case of emergency.
Yusuf Abdullahi said that the special Sallah patrol program will be started on 16 and end on 26 July 2021 calling motorists to cooperate with the personnel during the operation stressing that Sallah can only be celebrated by those who are alive not the dead ones.
He also advised commercial drivers to as much as possible avoid overloading, over-speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol just as they should make sure that their vehicles are roadworthy.
The FRSC Sector Commander also warned drivers against night driving and dangerous overtaking considering the nature of the roads across the country assuring that the personnel are ready to assist in any way that they can to ensure a safe Sallah celebration.
