A data scientist, lbidapo lbikunle, on Wednesday, said that technology has the potential to drive Nigeria’s sustainable and economic development.
Ibikunle who identified the advancement of science and technology as critical to achieving the nation’s aspirations, said that technology holds the key to unlocking the country’s vast development and economic potential.
Speaking in Akure, the state capital, while delivering a keynote address at the Annual Tech Conference, with the theme: “Technology: The Missing Link in Nigeria’s Economic Diversity.” said ”Nigeria has immense potential, but technology is the catalyst we need to unlock it.
“Data-driven solutions can help us optimize resources, improve decision-making, and foster sustainable growth across industries”
Ibikunle emphasized the transformative potential of technology in diversifying Nigeria’s economy and explained that advancements in data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning could revolutionize key sectors.
He listed the key sectors in which the nation can use artificial intelligence, and machine learning to revolutionise to include agriculture, healthcare, education, and manufacturing.
He explained that data analytics is being leveraged in other nations to drive economic diversification, urging stakeholders to invest in technology-driven initiatives and prioritize digital literacy to ensure Nigeria remains competitive on the global stage.
Ibikunle however called for collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors, stressing the importance of creating policies that foster innovation and encourage investment in technology.
According to him “The future of our economy depends on how well we embrace technology today.
“This is not just a missing link; it is the foundation for a more inclusive and resilient economy.”
