IN promoting sports activities In Ebonyi state, The state government has approved fifty-two million, three hundred thousand naira, N52.3m, for the reintroduction of sporting activities at the primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
The commissioner for youths and sports development Ebonyi state Hon. Charles Akpuenika stated this yesterday while briefing journalist on the outcome of the Executive Council meeting held at the state Exco chamber government house Abakaliki.

According to the commissioner, who said the reintroduction of sporting activities will engage youths meaningfully and reduce criminal activities in the state stated that the first edition of The David Umahi tertiary institutions tournament shall commence from the 171 wards to 24 constituencies, then to the state level.
“The Executive Council has graciously approved 52million and 300000 to commence the much-awaited sporting activities in the state. Namely the reintroduction of school sports, from primary, junior and senior secondary school.
Again the first edition of David Umahi tertiary institutions which the institutions have already declared their interest to participate in the first divine mandate supper cup will emanate from the ward to the 24 constituencies and to the state level.”
