The Nkomoro autonomous community in Ebonyi state has protested against the alleged imposition of Barr Jacob Nwakpa as their traditional ruler (Eze-elect).
The community, including youth and town union leaders, rejected Nwakpa’s imposition, citing that he was not elected by the people and therefore lacked their support.
They claimed that external elements, including Nwakpa’s family, manipulated the process, and that no free and transparent election was conducted.
The community appealed to the Ebonyi state government to intervene and conduct a fair election, as all contestants are from the same kindred (Oriuzor).
They also expressed trust in the ongoing judicial process and vowed to resist any further attempts to impose a traditional ruler without their consent.
However, some of the aspirants, Mr Joseph Ogayi, a retired police officer, and prophet Igwe Cletus who spoke with our correspondent, explained that all contestants are of Oriuzor kindred and appealed to Ebonyi State Government to visit the community and conduct free and fair election for the interest of the state.
