DSS arrests two in court premises over Agosasa obaship crisis

Operatives of the Ogun Secret Police have apprehended two individuals, Fatai Ajibola, known as Oga Ilu Agosasa, and an acclaimed community youth leader, Sunday Oyero, over allegations of culpability in the crisis rocking Agosasa Community in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, in relation to the Obaship tussle.

The duo, who are also facing charges of arson before Justice A. Shobayo of an Ogun State High Court sitting in Ilaro, were arrested after a hearing in their matter before the court.

Sensing that they were about to be apprehended, the duo raised an alarm upon noticing the presence of operatives from the Nigeria Police and DSS outside the court.

Their alarm led to Justice Shobayo inviting the security operatives to clarify their mission, and they informed the court that the suspects had refused several invitations to appear for questioning.

They are alleged to have sponsored several violent attacks in Agosasa before and after Akinpelu’s official coronation, leaving the community in despair. This necessitated several invitations by the DSS, which were rebuffed by the duo, who are said to usually escape to neighbouring Benin Republic after unleashing mayhem on the community.

They are accused of being involved in widespread acts of violence in Agosasa while attempting to install someone as the community traditional head, after the Ogun State Government had approved Azeez Akinpelu as the traditional head, resulting in killings and the free use of weapons on innocent locals.

After the court sitting, the duo were apprehended in their vehicles outside the Ilaro court while attempting to flee and are currently said to be at the State Command of the Service in Abeokuta for further investigation.
