Music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has explained why he avoids attending some concerts in Nigeria, citing concerns over theft and fan behaviour.

The Mavin Records boss said many concertgoers often lose personal belongings such as phones and wristwatches during events, making some shows uncomfortable even for people within the music industry.

Speaking about the issue, Don Jazzy compared such experiences with the atmosphere at Johnny Drille’s concerts, which he described as peaceful and organised.

According to him, Johnny Drille’s fan community stands out for its calm behaviour and respect for guests and fellow attendees.

“Johnny Drille has an amazing community. It’s just one of those shows where I can literally go, and I don’t necessarily have to carry money because nobody would disturb me. There are some fans that if you go to some of their concerts, you will not come out in the same way. If you wear wristwatch or something, you’ll not come out with it”

Don Jazzy recalled being surprised by the turnout at Johnny Drille’s first live show, noting that despite the large crowd, the environment remained orderly throughout the event.

He added that fear of losing valuables is one reason he stays away from certain concerts in the country.

The music executive also praised Johnny Drille and Ayra Starr for building fan communities with positive energy and a different concert culture.
