Dickson lifts embargo on employment in Bayelsa

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has lifted the embargo on employment in the state to create room for young employment seekers to be gainfully employed in the state civil service.
This, Dickson said while addressing the mammoth crowd at the peace park in Yenagoa as part of activities marking five years of the restoration government in the state.
He pointed that government is presently reviewing the state civil service with a view to weed out those collecting illegal salaries with working, stressing that after the exercise massive employment of productive youths in the state would commence.
Dickson, who noted that government does not want to owe workers’ salaries in 2017, said it that spur her (government) to commence full payment in January, even as he explained that the shortfall in allocation from the federal government was responsible for half salaries last year; and assured that as finances improves government would offset the arrears.
He admitted that no one has monopoly of knowledge and he needs the inputs of all well-meaning Bayelsans to move the state forward, even as enjoined the people to support one another to make society better.
Dickson averred that five years on the saddle the Restoration government has brought real changes to the state, stressing that the airport is near completion, the state now has a world diagnostic centre, the Samson Siasia stadium has been given a face lift amongst
several others.
According to him, the state is far better than what he met when he took the reins of government in 2012, even as he posited that tangible progress made dots every nooks and crannies of the state.
“We have been prudent and accountable in managing state resources and for that singular reason we signed into law the compulsory rendition of what comes into the state and how it is spent in a programme “monthly transparency and accountability briefing with journalists and all stakeholders in the state” the Governor said.
The governor noted that the senatorial roads to Agge in Ekeremor council, Brass and Oporoma in Southern Ijaw has reached advance level, and that despite the challenge that the terrain poses couple with the recession, sand filling is work is going on daily at the sites.
The governor rededicated himself to the service of the state, even as he noted that whatever government does was in the interest of the people of the state, even as cleared the air over the grazing site for cattle rearers at the Bayelsa palm.
Dickson explained that it was done to confine them (herdsmen) to the Bayelsa palm which is restricted area, and beside government would register all owners with a view to ensure that they pay revenue to the state.
He reiterated that the election is over and made fresh overtures to members of the All Progressive Change (APC) to join the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to move the state forward.
Also, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon Jonathan Obuebite said the Governor has set up a benchmark for others to follow in the country, even as he noted that financial discipline has been brought back to government through a monthly transparency and
accountability briefing.
The governor is the first to institutionalize transparency in this country where prudent and accountability is the watch word of the government and that today we have set up a special website for the world to see the income and expenditure of this government” Obuebite said.
He pointed that in the area of security Bayelsa is one of the safest state in the country, stressing that the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police zone 5, Muhammad Adamu in his recent visit described Bayelsa as the most peaceful state with crime and criminality at its
lowest ebb.
To this end, he pointed that the governor has promise to consolidate on all the achievements of the restoration government with a view to ensure that abandoned projects are not handed over to the next government.
