Develop HND Event Management curricula, Femi Babalola urges NUC, NBTE

Event industry player and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, in Oyo State, Mr Femi Babalola, has called on the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to develop curricula for the award of degree and HND in event management.

Babalola speaking with the Tribune Onlime in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital,  at  the weekend,  said  event management had proven to be a vast sector that could offer employment  to  young Nigerians,  adding  that undergraduate programmes at the universities and polytechnics, would produce high level manpower that would strengthen the practice.

Innovative young Nigerians, he noted, had ventured into the vocation and made success of it, adding that the impact on the economy would be more pronounced if they actually trained in it.

“Instead of training on the job with the usual trial by error methods, these practitioners be exposed to quality undergraduate and diploma programmes and made into high level manpower needed to further strengthen the national economy,” he said.
