An On Air Personality (OAP) and Nollywood actress, Destiny Amaka, has said that people think she is sick because of her massive weight loss, correcting the perception during the week, she asked rumour mongers to desist from sending her too many “ugly comments”
The Cool FM 96.9 OAP took to her Instagram account to address the issue which had lingered since 2016 when she finally shed a total of 23kg in 14 months (between 2015 and 2016).
The used-to-be curvy and rounded diva has remained skinny ever since touting the rumour that she may have meet with a terrible disease.
During the week, she made out time to fire back at all the rumour mongers and assuring genuine sympathisers of her excellent physical and mental conditions.
Her post reads in part: “For those who are genuinely worried about my health and weight loss please don’t, honestly I get it but enough with the DM’s and ugly comments. I am 5:7/8 and weigh just over 137Ib, hips 44 and cos I’ve always had a small waist its even smaller now at 24 inch. Yes, I am working on adding a few more pounds but in muscle and not fat. it’s a journey, still learning new things and it’s so beautiful. I’ve never been so happy and at peace from within and most of all healthy. Skin poppen, hair growing and mind strong”.
Amaka who was probably the second celebrity after female comedian, Lepacious Bose, to embark on a significant weight loss exercise, also detailed the reason for her decision in the post.
“This journey was never about my appearance (that was secondary), but about my health and mental state. I suffered from multiple mood swings, hormone imbalances, at risk of type two diabetes, back and knee pains, in and out of hospital and while I waited in fear and torment for the results of a lump I found in my right breast early May 2016 which eventually turned out to be a benign tumour I knew I couldn’t go back to how I used to live,” she wrote.
Amaka also said she achieved her feat without pills or surgery, but simply curtailing her diets.
