Delta State Government, on Monday, restated the safety of the state for investors to do business even as it urged all to discountenance the recent report of the British Government placing the state under security watch of insurgency.
The British Government had in its intelligence report identified Delta as one of the 12 states in Nigeria that are unsafe for its citizens.
Addressing a press conference in Asaba, Commissioner of Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu declared that the report was done in error as no state in the South-South has been threatened by Boko Haram insurgents.
According to him, “Last month, on the 21st of September 2021, the British High Commissioner for Nigeria, Catriona Laing was here in Delta and we did not have any report that her life was threatened during her visit”.
“We are not in a position to question any intelligence mechanism deploys. We live here in Delta so we know what is obtainable in our state.
“In the entire south, authorities have not been able to establish that there is Boko Haram.
“In the past six and a half years we have reasonable peace and God have helped us through the continued support of persons which have increased development across the state,” he asserted.
He, therefore, advised the British authorities to see the need to do business with Delta State.
