The Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom HRM, King Obukowho Monday Whiskey, Udurhie I, has lauded Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege for the approval and restoration of Ethiope West State Constituency 1 in Delta State.
The monarch made the commendation in a statement made available to Nigerian Tribune on Sunday in Warri, thanking the number six citizen of the country for his hardwork and resilience exerted in the realisation of the dream.
“Sequel to the adoption of a motion moved by your humble self, the Senate on the 10th of February, 2021, finally approved the restoration of Ethiope West State Constituency 1 in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
“It has not lost on me, how Honorable Justice M. Shitu Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Warri ruled on March 25, 2015 that Ethiope West State Constituency 1 be restored as a state constituency with an elected member in the State House of Assembly.
“Six years down the line, the electoral umpire, INEC, blatantly refused to respect the court order (making that light to go off). Hence, your legislative sagacity and your strong commitment as a true advocate and instrument for accomplishment of this great feat is highly appreciated by my humble self and the good people of Idjerhe Kingdom.
“Let me place it on record that you have contributed immensely for the emancipation and the political freedom for the suppressed and oppressed people of my kingdom and this singular action has calmed the already frayed nerves and doused the political tension that emanated from the age-long oppression,” the journalist-crowned monarch noted.
The Idjerhe Kingdom monarch, however, urged Senator Omo-Agege to assist in opening the kingdom to “modern investments as our vast waterfront lands are ready for would-be investors and Federal Government projects.
