Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State

IT has been observed that Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo is being unfairly assessed by the opposition in the state in spite of the positive development his tenure has brought to the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on media to the Governor, Junaid Usman who stated that there are some few elements who have completely failed to see and appreciate the good things the DabKwambo led PDP administration has brought to the state in the past seven years.

The media aide added that some of the people who are now castigating the administration were those who could not do anything good for people of the state during their own period but are now in forefront of castigating the Governor who has done well to correct the wrongs they committed during their terms.

Junaid Usman added, “they did not accomplish anything good for the people of Gombe state but DabKwambo has done very well despite the enormous challenges associated with lowest allocations from the Federation Account”.

According to Junaid, despite the efforts of Governor Dankwambo to make Gombe state a better place for all through the provision of quality education, water, good roads, better health care delivery as well as security and welfare, but some opposition in the state is hell-bent on rubbishing his developmental strides with bad and unfair criticism.

“It is pathetic that the opposition in the state has not paid attention to the big presence of internally displaced people coming into the Gombe from the insurgency-ravaged neighbouring states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, and these displaced people were sheltered and taken care of by the Gombe state government”, he added.

“How can anyone unfairly criticise Governor Dankwambo on the provision of good water when there is an influx of over a million internally displaced persons, with a water revenue of less than one percent and this has also created a big expense on water treatment for the state? He asked”.

He added, “It is also worthy of note that Gombe state doesn’t get a dime as security and insurgency aid from the federal government despite suffering the same insurgency crisis with Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, states that have all enjoyed tremendous financial assistance from the federal government”.

“The state government on its own has improved the security apparatuses in the state through renovation and rehabilitation of police stations, barracks and checkpoints by providing all the necessary security tools and facilities to aid their work”.

The media aide further stressed that “as a PDP state, Gombe has been marginalised on security fund by the federal government and other federal financial aids but that has no deter the governor in improving the security situation of the state”.

He added that, the Dankwambo led administration has been liberal and all-encompassing since inception, stressing that the divisive tendencies being used by the opposition to create a distraction for him has failed woefully and asserted that no amount of divisive sentiments as being championed by the opposition will draw the administration back because it is focused and resolute.

Junaidu Usman then urged the opposition in the state to be fair and constructive in their assessment and criticism of Dankwambo led administration just as he advised them to desist from raising issues based on falsehood and parochial reasoning intended to cause confusion and aimed at scoring cheap popularity among the good people of Gombe state.
