Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State

GOMBE State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has decried the lack of a Sharia Court of Appeal in the state since its creation in 1996 assuring that his administration will provide a befitting complex for the court in the next 6 months.

The Governor who stated this while on an on the spot inspection of some State Government on-going projects within Gombe, the State capital stressed the importance of such a court in the state.
He stated that the court should have been in place as soon as the state was created in 1996, however, excused previous administrations for not establishing it saying, they had their peculiar challenges.
According to him,“these are institutions that once they are established, you can be sure government is established. They are supposed to be constructed as soon as the state was created but I am sure the previous administrations had series of challenges which varies from one administration to the other.”
He said,“So our responsibility today is to ensure that the government is well established first and then the take-off of democracy will be assured”, stressing also that the administration will do everything possible to mobilise the contractor back to site.
The Governor also inspected the completed famous Tashan Dukku round-about and storm drains where he expressed satisfaction with the quality and level of work especially that it will go a long way in addressing the issue of flooding.
He assured that more houses will be compensated to allow for the expansion of the drainages so that the volume of water coming from different sources can pass without any obstruction.
The Governor commended the State ministry of works and the contractor, Tinka points Nigeria limited for the quality of work done and further assured that it will stand the test of time.
For other areas recovered in the course of the construction, Governor Dankwambo said government will construct a modern shopping complex that will modernise and beautify the area.
In his words,“we have already designed a very good and modern shopping complex which will be allocated to some of the traders when completed, but first of all, we need to modify and modernise the environment so that it will be neat, healthy for all of us to live”.
