A Kano State High Court sitting on Monday sentenced 22-year-old Ibrahim Suleiman to death by hanging.
The court ordered the hanging to death of Suleiman, a resident of Kaya quarters in Gaya local government of the state.
It would be recalled that the convict was first arraigned before the court on 5th February 2019 on a one-count charge of culpable homicide.
Suleiman who was represented by Mustapha Idris pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Lamido Soron Dinki, informed the court that Suleiman on 5th June 2018 at about 7:30 am used a stick to strike a 5-year-old girl, Bilkisu Garba, on her head.
He added that Garba died as a result of the injury inflicted on her by Suleiman.

The prosecution summoned three witnesses including Jamila Zubairu, Inspector Abubakar Adamu and Chinda Chiwa who gave testimonies against the convict.
The prosecution also tendered a stick, medical report and the confessional statements made to the police by the convict.
However, the presiding judge, Justice A .T Gbadamasi held that the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.
The court further ruled that Suleiman be hanged to death.
