The Iyaloja of Agosasa, Chief (Mrs) Asabi Aderohunmu, has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to consider the community as the next destination for economic hub in the state.
Aderohunmu said that Agosasa, which is one of the border communities in the state deserves to have international market due to its proximity to Nigeria’s border.
Chief Aderohunmu, who made the call while receiving the Chief Executive Officer of Public Relations Agency, Dardolips Information Global Technology, Damilare Abioro, said increased commercial activities on border communities will boost economic development of the state.
The first iyaloja of Agosasa explained that the congestion of companies on Agbara axis has made the state government to move to Sagamu Interchange area for the establishment of companies.
She added that such developmental stride should be extended to Agosasa which is also strategically located in the Gateway State, especially near the Idiroko border.
According to her, the state government’s intervention is also needed in the areas of construction of ultramodern markets, good road networks to link the market, potable water, among other social amenities in order to attract the prospective investors into the market.
“I can only appeal to our governor to look into the business potential of Agosasa with the establishment of international market in our community.
“Many farmers still have to take their farm produce to other parts of the state to sell but if we have such a market, the investors will be willing to come and establish their businesses in the market because they will source for their materials locally.
“If you look at Agbara, it is fully occupied and the government has moved to Sagamu inter-change because of the location of the road to travellers from other parts of the country. That is why I am asking for the same thing close to Idiroko border,” Aderohunmu stated.
Aderohunmu, while appreciating her fellow businessowners and traders, further called for the support of the state government to tackle employment, as there are many youths, especially graduates, without jobs in the state.
She also pleaded with the federal government to consider the residents of the border communities vis-a-vis some of his policies, especially the border closure, multiple security checkpoints, extortions and ban on petrol sales, which is affecting the livelihood and economy of residents in the area.
