Commuters and motorists have decried deplorable conditions of internal roads in Oyo as majority of them have become death traps.
Some areas have been caught off while commuters now spend productive hours navigating from one end of the town to another in the process of looking for alternative routes.
Residents of Ibadan are worst it as over 80% of the internal roads are no longer passable.
Some of the affected roads include; Bere-Molete stretch road and Uncle Joe of Mokola-Sango-Ui road.
Others are; Ojoo-Army barrack -Igbo-Igbo Oloyin Road, Idi-Odo-Felele junction, Kute-Wofun junction, Idi-Arere-Odinjo road.
The list also includes; Olorunsogo-Akanran Road, Ayegun-Oleyo Road, Odo Ona Kekere-Asunle Road, and Koloko-Idi-Obi Road.
The deplorable condition of internal roads is not limited to Ibadan metropolis, as residents in other local government areas shared their painful experiences.
Our correspondent gathered that internal roads in Ibarapa, Oke-ogun, and Ogbomoso are nothing to write home about in spite the promise of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration to focus attention on rehabilitation of internal roads.
Most of the motorists interviewed expressed their concern about the deplorable condition of the roads and its effect on their vehicles.
A banker who simply identified as Tunde said he spent close to seven hours between Iwo road and Ololdo junction because of the deplorable condition of the road.
According to him, the governor promised that all the internal roads would be fixed but we are yet to feel the impact.
The road users are feeling the pain as it has affected the transport fare from one end of Ibadan to another.
Also, a tricycle operator popularly called as Keke NAPEP alleged the governor of insensitivity to the plight of the masses.
“It has been a tale of woes. From fuel subsidy removal to deplorable condition of roads. The situation is pathetic.
“We did not bargain for what we are experiencing in Oyo. Rainy season should not be an excuse. Mr Governor should do the needful,” the tricyclist told our reporter.
