The hot weather is here, and surely, we all need to take chilled water and drinks every now and then. One of the drinks you can consider is zobo, also called hibiscus tea, and for hygienic purposes, making your own zobo drink at home is better than buying.

Asides from the fact that making zobo drink is quite easy, the necessary ingredients to make it are also cheap. In addition, zobo drink comes with many health benefits.

The ingredients you will need are:

Zobo leaves

Ginger and garlic

Cloves

Pineapple

Artificial flavours/sugar

Water

Method

Firstly, rinse your zobo leaves properly to get rid of whatever dust or dirt. Wash, peel and cut the pineapple into small slices. Also, wash and peel the ginger and garlic.

In a pot, add the already rinsed zobo leaves and let it boil for five minutes. After five minutes, add the pineapple slices (you can add the pineapple peel too if you like), ginger and garlic and add more water. Cook on medium heat for 30 minutes. This will make the zobo leaves and pineapple very soft When it is soft, turn off the heat and set aside.

After the zobo has cooled down, sieve it through a chiffon cloth to make sure there are no particles. You can add any artificial flavour or sugar at this point, then stir properly.

Pour into bottles and refrigerate it. Your zobo is ready!
