The Nigerian Cassava farmers Growers Association has emphasized the importance of women’s involvement in cassava production.
The call was made by the Kano State chapter of the association Hajiya Halima Zubairu during a visit to cassava seedlings banks in Gwarzo local government area of Kano State.
She noted that cassava production can generate income and create job opportunities for the teeming youths and Women’s population.
“Cassava production can be a game-changer for our economy and our youths,” she said. “If our youths can fully engage in cassava production, it will not only boost our economy but also take them out of Restiveness.”
She therefore called on the government to support cassava farmers by providing soft loans and modern mechani equipment to enhance productivity, saying,”We need the government’s support to take our cassava production to the next level,”
“With the right tools and resources, we can increase our yield and improve the quality of our cassava products.”
She also said “We need to encourage more women to get involved in cassava production and provide them with the necessary support and resources.”
“Cassava production can generate employment opportunities for our youths and contribute to our economic growth,” she said. “We need to tap into this potential and create an enabling environment for cassava farmers to thrive.”
The chairperson praised the Kano State government for its efforts in promoting cassava production in the state. “Kano State has made significant progress in cassava production, and we need to build on this momentum,” she said.
“With the right policies and support, we can make Kano State a hub for cassava production in Nigeria.”
