The entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning as the news of the death of Nigerian music legend, Lanre Fasasi better known as Sound Sultan was broken online.
According to reports, the 44-year-old celebrated singer, songwriter, actor and basketball lover died from a hard-fought battle with throat cancer.
Sound Sultan was a popular figure in the Nigerian entertainment scene and was one of the most visible veterans of Nigerian hip hop music who are still relevant in the present day.
His song, ‘Jagbajantis’, among many others were very popular and ruled the airwaves for many years. News of his battle with throat cancer broke a few months ago but was not thought to be life-threatening, until now.
His death has been received with shock by his family, friends and fans worldwide with torrents of messages posted online in shock.
Sound Sultan is survived by a wife and three children.
