BREAKING: MC Oluomo emerges NURTW national president

Former Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, was on Saturday elected as the National President of the Union.

The newly elected national president has, however, been sworn in accordingly after he emerged as the leader of the NURTW.

Other executive officers were also elected alongside with him at the Nineteen Quadrennial Delegates Conference held at the NURTW Zone 2 headquarters, Osogbo, Osun State capital at the event,led by state chairmen from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti with the active NURTW in the South West region of Nigeria .

These officers were, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede (Nation Vice President), Alhaji Hakeem Adeosun (Trustee).

Speaking, the Ekiti State Branch Chairman of the Union, Chief Joseph Falope who nominated the Akinsanya as the National President and seconded by Mr Ademola Ojude from Ondo state branch, said that all the states branches in South West put support behind Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya due to his contributions to union across the country.

According to him, when the national president Zone to South West region, all agreed to elect Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya as our president because of his antecedents in the NURTW in Nigeria.

In his own submission at the occasion, the acting National President, Aliyu Isa, who was represented by the head of Finance of department of the NURTW headquarters, Abuja, Mrs Salami Oyeyode Adedamola, said that the zonal delegates conference of South-West has decided new leadership that will lead the union at the national level.

In his acceptance speech, the new National President, NURTW, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya
commended the leadership of the union for their supports and love for NURTW in the South-West and Nigeria at large.

He however sought for forgiveness from whosoever he might have offended and preached for peace and harmony to make the party more solidified in the interest of its progress.

According to him, it is only in unity and oneness that remarkable achievements can be recorded within and outside the party.

Presiding officer of the 2024 Delegate Conference, Alhaji Nasiru Komolafe, commended Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti Governors for allowing NURTW to operate in their various states.

Komolafe said that the union is working with Osun and Oyo State Governors to allow the union to operate in their state.
