The Regional overseer of The Apostolic Faith Church, Ondo and Ekiti State, Rev. Akinwumi Ajayi has urged Nigerians not to be in a hurry for turn around of the country but charged them to prayerfully patient with the present administration led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ajayi who stated during his visit to the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) as part of activities to herald the 60th anniversary of the Church in Ondo and Ekiti states, said it might take a little period for the policies introduced by the new administration in the country to materialize
According to him, “For a change of government like this, that are engaging in policies, that they feel it will benefit the masses, there must be a spot where our shoes will pinch us.
“We have prayed for this nation and we have prayed for this government, now that they are engaging in a particular exercise that may not be friendly to us, my advice to Nigerians is that way should wait and see.
“All over the place now, the economy is generally affected because of this petrol, whenever the issue of petrol is discussed, it’s as good as touching the soul of everybody, market price every good, house rent will rise up and so many other things.
“But my advice is that let us wait and see what will be the result. As a church organization, by the special grace of God, we will continue to pray for this government. We should be prayerfully patient for this government.”
Speaking on the money realised from the subsidy, the Ondo and Ekiti overseer said “on the N400b saved on fuel subsidy, it is my humble belief that the money is not saved for a particular family, but for Nigeria populace, the money will be used for the benefit of the populace and believing that at a point in time, this money will be used to benefit the masses of this country.
“Although corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of this nation, If the corruption does not affect the N400b that they have saved, within a few weeks, I think we can breathe a sigh of relief and the money will be used to rehabilitate Akure-Ado road. If the money is judiciously used, we shall all be okay.”
He, however, called on every Nigerian to keep the crusade against endemic corruption alive urging Nigerian leaders to rule and lead with the fear of God.
The Regional overseer revealed that the church wants the general public to celebrate with them and appreciated God for the growth of the church, Revd Akinwunmi stressed that the church is a trinitarian church, as they all believe in the Trinity.
“The church peaches the entire bible and the doctrine of salvation, the need for somebody to be born again and be transformed. Whatever we do in the Church, the central theme is salvation. We thank God that we made it through thick and thin, we that are old are handing over to the youths.”
He listed some of the programmes of the church’s anniversary to evangelism, crusade, Thanksgiving, Music concert and revival.
