Bauchi: Police arrest two suspects over motorcycle rider’s death

…as Command vows to suppress criminal activities

Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the death of a motorcycle rider in Darazo, headquarters of Darazo LGA in Bauchi State. 

The disclosure was made by the Command PPRO, CSP Ahmed Wakili in a statement he issued to Journalists on Monday stating that State Criminal Investigation Department has been directed to conduct a discreet investigation.

He said, “On 05/03/2025, an incident report was made available at the disposal of Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters that a motionless body of an unidentified individual was found lying along Dosho Village, near Darazo, with multiple injuries.”

“Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer visited the scene and evacuated the unidentified body to the General Hospital, Darazo, where the victim was certified dead by a Medical Doctor.”

“Following a painstaking investigation, the deceased was later identified as Dauda Manu, a 25-year-old of Unguwar Buba Fulata, Lanzai via Darazo LGA of Bauchi State.”

“It was also discovered that, prior to his death, Dauda Manu was seen riding his motorcycle (a Boxer model) on 04/03/2025 with two unknown men on board,” he added.

Ahmed Wakili added that, “As the investigation into the matter continued, on 20/03/2025, one Yau Buba, a 25-year-old of Minchika Village, Darazo LGA, was arrested in Gombe State in possession of the victim’s motorcycle.”

“During interrogation, Yau Buba revealed that the motorcycle had been sold to him by Buba Muhammadu for N250,000, a 22-year-old of Minchika Village via Darazo LGA, who was subsequently arrested on 21/03/2025.”

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, after that, the suspects will be charged in court.

“Finally, the Command has renewed its unwavering commitment to suppressing criminal activities across the state to protect life and property,” he concluded.
