Bauchi State Government has called for support from international partners and stakeholders to address the Cholera outbreak in the state.
To tackle the Bauchi Cholera outbreak, the government has created and inaugurated two committees: the State Cholera Steering Committee and the State Technical Working Committees.
At the inauguration, Deputy Governor Auwal Muhammad Jatau, who chairs the Steering Committee, urged members to be professional and work with urgency.

Jatau noted that cholera outbreaks continue to claim lives and put a strain on the state’s health system.
He emphasised that these outbreaks, like the ongoing Bauchi Cholera outbreak, are often preventable with timely action and improvements in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices.
He stated that the new committees will coordinate the state’s multi-sectoral response and drive prevention strategies.
He also assured health partners of Governor Bala Mohammed’s support for their programmes amidst the Bauchi Cholera outbreak concerns.
Dr. Sani Mohammed Dambam, the Health Commissioner and Chairman of the Technical Working Committee, promised to work with his team to achieve their mandate.
He added that the state would do everything possible to mitigate the causes of the outbreak.
In a goodwill message, WaterAid Nigeria highlighted its efforts in providing safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services.
The organisation has secured funding to implement a project aimed at increasing access to climate-resilient WASH services for women in Misau Local Government Area.
