Barely 24 hours after his name was included among 17 Commissioner nominees, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has withdrawn the name of Pharmacist Samaila Adamu Burga from the list.

The new development was revealed during the plenary of the State House of Assembly which disclosed that it received a message from the Executive Governor of Bauchi State His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad to that effect.

The message, as presented by the Majority Leader, Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu, the Governor informed the House of his withdrawal of the nomination of Sama’ila Adamu Burga from Tafawa Balewa Local Government as a Commissioner nominee.

The House then directed the House Committee on Rules and Business to come up with time table for the screening of Commissioner nominees which will commence next week Tuesday.

Also during plenary, Report of the House Committee on Rules and Business and House Committee on Finance on a Bill for a Law to make provision for the Management of Funds of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and other related matters 2021 was laid by the Majority Leader, Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu.

The Joint Committee observed that the Fund Management Law is intended to ensure accountability and transparency of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, ensure effective and efficient utilisation of funds, enable the House to exercise power to manage its capital and recurrent expenditure and create an administrative structure that facilitates effective operationalisation of the financial autonomy.

According to the report, the law will also facilitate the effective, efficient and speedy operation of legislative business, enhance the visibility of the Office of the Clerk in matters of administration, legislative business and appropriation process and provide an opportunity for closer working relations between the political and the bureaucracy.

The Joint Committee, therefore, recommended that all the 22 clauses as provided in the Bill be retained as submitted which was unanimously adopted as recommended by the Committee.

The Majority Leader, Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu, also requested that the Bill for a Law to make provision for the Management of Fund of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and other related matters 2021 should undergo third reading and was seconded by the Minority Leader, Bakoji Aliyu Bobbo.

The Speaker put the motion to a voice vote and the Members unanimously approved, he thereafter directed the Clerk of the House Umar Yusuf Gital Esq to carry out the third reading after which the Bill was passed into law.

The House then adjourned plenary to Thursday, August 19, 2021, as moved and seconded by the Majority and Minority Leaders as contained in a statement by Abdul Ahmad Burra Spokesperson to the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly.
