Worried by the health indices in the State, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has reiterated the determination of his administration towards improving healthcare delivery services in the state.
The Governor said this on Thursday at the formal presentation of Six Ambulances to some selected Primary Healthcare Centers in the state held at Bauchi Office of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Bala Mohammed who said the distribution of the ambulances was part of his administration’s efforts to improve the living condition of the people through the strengthening of primary health care services, expressed confidence that the gesture will go along way at ensuring timely transportation of patients at the rural areas to secondary and tertiary health institutions for referrals.

He further noted that provision of effective healthcare service delivery is one of the important basic social service needed for every meaningful development and said that the present administration in the state is responding to the yearnings and aspirations of citizens of the state through improvement in critical sectors of the economy.
The Governor who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House Bauchi, Alhaji Abubakar Kari, then charged the management of the benefiting healthcare centres to ensure the maintenance and effective usage of the ambulances.
Earlier, the Acting Director-General, Sustainable Development Goals, Mr Solomon C Bakos mentioned that the benefiting healthcare centres are those of Kafin Madaki General Hospital, Darazo General Hospital, Garin Na Allah PHC, Gobdiya PHC and Udubo Maternity as well as Mashema PHC.
The SDG Acting Director-General who explained that Sustainable Development Goals focuses its intervention in the areas of Health, Water, Girls Child Education and reduction of discrimination against the less privileged in the society.
Speakers at the occasion while applauding Governor Bala Mohammed for the gesture, observed that it would complement the efforts of his administration at ensuring effective healthcare delivery.
Meanwhile, 12,304 under 5 years old children have been registered under the Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) at OPT centres across Bauchi State, between January to May 2019
Out of the number 9,219 have fully recovered, 519 defaulted, 200 are yet to fully recover while 59 died an index that shows that with these figures there is the need to intensify report on RUTF, IYCF and micronutrient powder by Journalists in the state.
The data was given by the State Nutrition Officer at a one-day advocacy engagement with Government officials on the need to support and fund MNP in Bauchi State.
