Determined to strengthen deep research for medical discovery, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, is to establish a Center for Research for Post Graduates in the hospital.
The disclosure was made by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), of the hospital, Dr Mohammed Alkali at the Third Annual Scientific Conference and Workshop of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Bauchi State Branch.
Mohammad Alkali noted that if the centre is established it would no doubt improve research among medical practitioners towards actualising good health care services to the people.

He, therefore, described the event as timely in line with the global research and practice among Nigerian Medical Practitioners and commended the Association for coming up with the program.
In his remarks at the occasion, the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr Yahaya Yariman Misau expressed government’s commitments towards rebranding health sector for proper health care services delivery in the state.
Senator Bala Abdulkadir applauded the efforts of the Association for the program and urged various medical associations to always support the government in the areas of health care services delivery in the state.
In his keynote address, the Guest Speaker at the occasion, Professor Shehu A Akuyam called on the medical Practitioners to imbibe the habit of research and practice to enable them to perform their duties diligently.
Speaking at the event, the state Chairman of the Association, Bala Muhd Balarabe enumerated some the aims of the conference to include, promote a high standard of medical laboratory science education, promote the advancement of health care services delivery as well as ensure the welfare of all the members among others.
He used the medium to call on the management of the hospital to support them in order to achieve the set goals and therefore commended the present administration in the state for the restructuring the health sector.
The Representative of the Emir of Bauchi, State Head state and other top government official and traditional rulers graced the event with the theme, ‘Laboratory Health, Safety and Accreditation’.
