Archbishop of Kaduna Anglican province and Bishop of Kebbi, Most Reverend Edmund Akanya, has charged Christians to live as children of the light.
He stated this at the thanksgiving service of the synod of Yewa Anglican Diocese, held at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Ona-Nla, Ilaro, Ogun State.
The cleric, who spoke on the theme, Be the Light, urged Christians to refocus their efforts on making their lives shining examples of virtues, in line with what the Christian faith preaches.
He highlighted the ways Christians could be the light as follows: “making up our minds to be the light; imitating Christ; glorifying God in all we say or do; living righteously; dying to flesh and sin; seeking heavenly things; filling our hearts with God word, and through prayer.”
There was an award ceremony held during the thanksgiving service. Chief Jonathan Odebiyi, Chief Israel Babarinde, Chief A.A. Laditan, Pa Festus Otegbeye, Chief Adenrele Adejumo, Chief C.K. Ojo, Chief (Mrs) Adetutu Olubiyi, Chief (Mrs) Adepate Adeoniye, Chief Leke Fasina, Chief M. Ola Amore, Professor Afolabi Olabimtan; Mrs Omotunde Amore, all received posthumous awards.
Others who received honorary awards included Pa S.A. Oniyide; Chief (Dr) S.A.J. Ibikunle; Chief D.A. Coker; Chief (Dr) Hezy Idowu; Ven. (Dr) O.O. Obadina; Dr O. Feyisetan; Elder Wole Owoseni, among others.
