As the raging Igweship crisis rocking Aguleri Community, the home town of Governor Willie Obiano, in Anambra East local government area of the state, following the demise of late Igwe Christopher Idigo, the Idigo family have disassociated themselves from appointment of Dr.Mike Idigo as their traditional ruler by the state governor, saying Hon. Chuka Idigo is the right person chosen by the ancestor to take over the throne.
They said the community does not have any Igwe for now, that the purported igwe has no family and community endorsement, but for Governor Willie Obiano who appointed the Igwe alone.
Speaking to newsmen, who was at the Palace in Aguleri on Thursday, Barr. Chinedu Idigo of Idigo dynasty said the kingship in the community is under contention for now and that the community has no Igwe.
According to him, the truth is that the community does not have any Traditional Ruler and when it has, it would be made known to the public.
“The truth is that , we do not have Igwe for now. When we have,we informed the general public. It is not a secret thing. The position is under contention for now and I cannot comment much on it” he said.
Speaking also to Nigerian Tribune, the Palace Secretary of the Kingdom, who simply identified himself as Onyakaomele said for now the community has no Igwe, saying that what exist is Governor Willie Obiano’s Igwe and not Aguleris as a community.
He said the community had already elected Igwe in the person of Chuka Idigo and the so called Igwe Mike Idigo signed in the document where we agreed on Chuka to be the Igwe.

“For now, we don’t have Igwe, when we have, we shall tell you.Even the one they said he is the Igwe signed in support of the choice of the community (Chuka). We don’t have Igwe now, is governor Obiano that has Igwe. We have Eze elect after some time ,we saw Police and Army every where and somebody was purported to have been made Igwe.”
Have you you seen where the governor elects Igwe? Is he our brother or relation. He is Obiano’s Igwe, that is why the so called Igwe is staying in the state capital Awka, and not in the village.
When asked, whether the governor is not part of the kindred, retorted, Obiano is not our relation or brother and he has no right on who becomes our traditional ruler.
The one that said he is Igwe, we have where he signed for Chuka as the Igwe elect, before the governor changed it and brought police and army and installed his Igwe. All I know is that Aguleri Community has no Igwe” he said.
