Beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme in Obribenghan Camp in Ayakoromo Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State have cried out to the Federal Government to rescue them from economic hardship.
They said the hardship they are currently going through is due to the failure of one Comrade Joseph Eva to pay their monthly N65, 000 stipend since 2012.
Ten of the beneficiaries, who staged a peaceful protest in Warri, on Monday, alleged that Eva, their camp leader, had refused to pay them their monthly stipend in spite of entreaties.
Four of the aggrieved 10 beneficiaries, Oweikeyou Ayafor, Ebiare Kwane, Famous Buhari and Dauyeibo Ebarede, while speaking to the Nigerian Tribune, said all efforts to dialogue with Eva through one Honourable Mislaw Ganren had proved abortive.
They added that after some of them went to protest in Lagos and Abuja, Eva requested that they should submit their bank account details to one Chief Bade at Bomadi for the payment of their wages.
They said Eva later told them to go to their various banks and check their account balance, saying he had credited their accounts.
But the amnesty programme beneficiaries insisted that no money was paid into their accounts and that Eva was yet to do the needful.
They, therefore, urged the Federal Government to intervene.
Meanwhile, Mr Eva, said to be based in Lagos, could not be reached on phone for reaction on the issue as of the time of filing this report.
