CONSTITUTIONAL lawyer and the Ondo North Senatorial candidate for Action Alliance (AA) in the just concluded National Assembly election, Dr Tunji Abayomi, has broken the silence over the allegation of receiving financial assistance from the Ondo state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, to finance his election under the platform of AA.
Abayomi who refuted the allegation while reacting to the claims of some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State that Akeredolu diverted money meant for the APC to AA to ensure victory for AA in the election, said he did not receive a dime from Akeredolu in respect to the elections.
Abayomi, in a statement posted on his verified social media page, said “The truth is that I am far too busy right now with my professional and personal life to engage in all the nonsensical dialogue going on with regard to Ondo State politics.
“I am a successful lawyer and no successful lawyer has anything to fear in victory or defeat. I have many second addresses.

“But I want to correct the false impression and representation that the governor used what they call APC money to sponsor AA during the election. For me, I sold a very valuable plot of land in Lekki to finance my Campaign. I also know one House of Representatives AA Candidate who sold his house abroad to do the same.
“Maybe if the governor had given us the so-called APC money as they claimed, I would have won after all because Senator Boroffice defeated me by only 10,000 votes and this came from his Local Government Area.
“I am only correcting the false representation but it’s not yet time to talk and I will talk when the right time comes. Best regards.”
Abayomi dumped the ruling APC in the State to actualise his dream of contesting the senatorial seat following the automatic ticket the National leadership of APC gave Senator Ajayi Boroffice, sidelining other aspirants contesting for the ticket in the Northern Senatorial district of the State.
Abayomi said he dumped APC for AA alleging irregularities, marginalisation and unconstitutional action by the APC leadership.
Boroffice was cleared by the National Working Committee(NWC) to re-contest the seat for the senatorial district in 2019 while the APC leadership in the state favoured Abayomi as its candidate for the seat.
