Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have put aside their differences with their attendance at the 4th year Fidau prayer for the immediate past governor of the state, the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

The leaders of the party at the event held at the Oluyole residence of the deceased on Tuesday agreed on the need to forge a common front in order to wrest power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027.

The views for the oneness of the party were shared by the senators from the three senatorial districts: Sharafadeen Alli, Yunus Akinrinde, AbduFatai Buhari, the former Deputy Governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, Senator Teslin Folarin, Barrister Lowo Obisesan, and a host of others.

They are united in their decision to uphold the vision of Late Ajimobi, which is togetherness, in order to reclaim the party’s lost glory in the 2027 general elections.

According to them, “it is imperative for the various political groups within the party to come together under one umbrella.

“The task before the party now is how to reclaim its mandate in the 2027 general elections. It is achievable.

On the late Ajimobi, they commended his wife, Chief Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, for keeping his vision alive.

In another development, the Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation has awarded N5 million in grants to 25 outstanding students drawn from different tertiary institutions.

Chief Ajimobi, who made this known at the Fidau prayers session, said the grant is in line with the vision of her late husband.

According to her, “In order to continue that legacy of promotion of quality education, which is one of the goals of the Foundation, we have, this year, instituted an annual education grant for students of Oyo State origin in tertiary institutions in the country.

“This grant is given without discrimination based on sex or political affiliation; the only conditions are that you must be an indigene of Oyo State, you must be brilliant, and you must be of a high moral standard.

“I want to gladly inform you that 25 successful awardees, after a keenly competitive exercise, from various institutions of higher learning are here with us today to receive the grant.

“In arriving at the 25 brilliant, successful recipients, the Foundation received 1800 applicants, of whom about 840 met the strict conditions for qualification.

“Of these numbers, 333 were in the first-class CGPA category. Subsequently, the applicants were further assessed, and based on their written justification for the application as well as strong recommendations from their institutions, the figure was screened to 86.

“A final rigorous assessment was then made, resulting in today’s successful recipients.

“I hereby heartily congratulate the awardees. However, I want to state here that for those who were not lucky to receive this year’s grant, it was not because they were less brilliant, but because the Foundation decided to start with a manageable size and increase the figure over the years as we continue to grow.

“The opportunity is still there for those who could not make it this year to re-apply next year.

“And for the successful candidates, I want to encourage you to see this as another opportunity to continue to improve on your performance. It should also inspire you to give back to society in the future.
